SWABI, Oct 20: Another polio case was confirmed in Swabi district as a 20-month-old girl tested positive for the crippling disease, health officials said here on Saturday.

An official of health department said that polio virus was detected in 20-month-old Aiman. “We are investigating the matter as to how the child contracted the virus because oral polio vaccine has been administered to her more than seven times during anti-polio campaigns,” he said.

Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) in-charge Dr Riaz, when contacted, said that it was confirmed unofficially that Aiman was tested positive for polio. He said that they had not received any official confirmation yet.

He said that Aiman's family migrated from Bajaur Agency and at present it was living in the Kotha village. It was second polio case in the district in less than two months.

Sources said that district administration called a special meeting on Monday to review the situation. — Correspondent
