LONDON, Oct 20: Former England captain and TV commentator Tony Greig has been diagnosed with lung cancer. He will undergo a biopsy during the next few days to measure the degree of the illness.

Greig, 66, was earlier diagnosed with bronchitis in May but became concerned when the condition did not heal.

He left the recent ODI series between Australia and Pakistan in Dubai for Tests, during which doctors found a small lesion on his right lung.

“I have had a few scrapes in my life and this is another one,” Greig told the Sunday Telegraph. “Vivian [his wife] and I are going to put the boxing gloves on and fight this like we’ve never fought anything before.”—Agencies
