WASHINGTON, Oct 17: The United States froze on Wednesday the assets of three Pakistan-based terrorist facilitators who work with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.
The US Treasury Department identified the three individuals as Maulvi Adam Khan Achakzai, Aamir Ali Chaudhry and Qari Ayyub Bashir.
Adam Achakzai and Aamir Chaudhry made bombs for TTP and the Afghan Taliban while Qari Bashir collected funds for the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the announcement said.
“As these designations demonstrate, we will continue to work to dismantle the terrorist support networks operating in Afghanistan and Pakistan, paying special attention to those involved in the manufacture of IEDs,” said David Cohen, US under-secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence.
The designations were intended to disrupt the activities of these three individuals working to carry out violent attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan that threaten the lives of civilians and military forces, he said.
The sanctions freeze any assets under US jurisdiction held by the three individuals, and will prohibit any American citizens from engaging in transactions with Chaudhry, Achakzai and Bashir.
