Pakistanis in US setting up fund for Malala

WASHINGTON, Oct 10: US-based Pakistani educationists are setting up a fund to help Malala Yousufzai who may need treatment outside Pakistan to recover from a wound caused by a Taliban bullet.

“Let us all donate money so she can get the best care in the world, gets well and once again resists the forces of darkness,” proposed Mohsin Masood, dean of student affairs at Monmouth College, Illinois.

“We can collectively defeat the evil. I will try to find out where to send money for her treatment,” he said.

“I will be happy to pitch in,” responded Sameer Malhotra, a Monmouth alumnus of Indian origin.

Pakistani educationists living in other parts of America also backed the initiative.

But when someone pointed out that the government of Pakistan had already agreed to finance her treatment, those behind the initiative decided to set up a fund to help promote education in Swat to boost Malala’s mission.

Let us not cloud the issue here. The best doctors are in attendance, and they are from the army medical corps. They know what needs to be done. The Army Chief has also condemned this dastardly act and offered all available support to Malala. Indeed a large number of our brave Jawans have giving their lives and limbs fighting these terrorists. So to repeat the mantra of army support for or nurturing of these groups is mischievous in the least. Let us all pray for the early recovery of this brave and wonderful daughter of Pakistan. She gives us hope, where we see none.

Long live Malala. I am a Buddhist and felt very sad to hear her conditions. I am ready to contribute to her if there is a way to do. Long live the innocence people of the world everywhere. Minority of religious extremism are everywhere in any organisations or religions. We the moderate should all united to fight but with peace and dialogue only. The problems starts when the moderates are influenced by the hardlines. Then it becomes majority and the whole society looks gloom.

Malala is seriously hurt by a bunch of cowards who insult Islam by picking on helpless people and are against progress. She is alone in her suffering and we have to comfort and look after her. It is not a time to look for US dollars as have been the habit of the day. It is time attempting to kill any one of our sisters have to be put to an end and I hope the law of Pakistan take drastic action on the cowards who tried to kill Malala. May Allah guide us

It ispleasure thatSubcontinent'sDiaspora particularly in US are willing to join in to promote humanitarian causes ie the welfare o foppressed segments of Pakistani Women, as symolized by the deadly shooting of young Activist MS MalalaYusuzai . One can hope that the ordeal of this young person would lead to her coming back to her life's mission soon. D. Goel

Everyone must pull together and show that she won't be defeated. It's important for all Pakistani young girls that she is back stronger to motivate many others. Her attackers must not succeed because they are wrong for Pakistan and it will be your sisters or daughters next if they are successful in their wishes. She should get the best treatment outside of Pakistan.

I am not sure if Malala is getting the best treatment,by now she should have been shifted to where best of best was available .Wish her an early recovery and good health,she is symbol of light !

Pakistanis should be in solidarity with President Obama who was moved enough to offer aid to Malala. I am still concerned about her recovery. The Pakistan Army hospital must have her on blood thinners because a bullet piecing the skull is going to cause blood clots which are dangerous to the heart and the brain. The good news is her brain does not appear to have a great deal of swelling. . In the final analysis Malala has helped Pakistan take another step forward enabling Pakistanis to realize the Taliban are not their brothers. Hopefull the Pakistan Army will see that as well.
