KARACHI, Oct 10: Ansar Abbas scored for the third match in succession as Pakistan Army defeated Muslim FC in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) on Wednesday.

In other matches, Wapda drew 1-1 with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) while PMC Athletico overwhelmed Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 3-0.

Ansar struck his fourth goal in three games to give Army the lead in the 20th minute against Muslim FC in a clash between two sides having equal points at the Army Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Army put the seal on all three points when Hameedullah’s foul in the penalty box in injury-time gave their goalkeeper, and former Pakistan captain, Jaffar Khan the opportunity to score from the resulting spot-kick.

Victory helped Army move up to third in the table with 21 points from 11 matches, three points behind league leaders Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and a point behind second-placed National Bank (NBP).

At the Railways Football Stadium in Lahore, Wapda took the lead through Mohammad Ahmed in the 22nd minute of their encounted against PIA. But PIA levelled matters six minutes later when Pakistan international midfielder Shakir Lashari struck to give his side a share of the spoils.

The point helped Wapda move to 17 points from 11 games while PIA have 14 points from 10 outings.

In Faisalabad, PMC recorded a vital victory at their PMC Football Ground as goals by Mohammad Usman and Sufian gave them a 2-0 lead at the end of the first-half.Harron Yousuf completed the scoring in injury-time to help his side to nine points from 11 matches while KPT stay on 15 points after their 12th game of the season.
