KARAK, Oct 8: Three labourers were injured when the roof of an under construction building collapsed in Andaki area of tehsil Karak on Monday. The injured labourers were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.

Eyewitnesses said that Ali Akbar, a resident of Andaki , was constructing a house and the labourers were busy in work when all of a sudden the main beam of the room collapsed. Three labourers identified as Imtiaz, Sabireen and Saud were buried under the debris, they added.

The labourers were retrieved from the rubble after hectic efforts. They were rushed to a private clinic from where they were referred to Peshawar in precarious condition.

SEEDS: The district agriculture officer has warned unauthorised dealers to stop selling substandard seeds of wheat to farmers.

Zahirullah Khattak, the district agriculture officer, and seed certificate officer Riazuddin visited the market and examined seeds on Monday after receiving complaints from farmers that some dealers were selling substandard seeds to them on the pretext that the same was recommended by the agriculture department.

He asked the dealers to return the seeds to the suppliers. He also asked them to give him written surety that they would not sell substandard seeds in future.

Mr Khattak said that the violators would be punished under Seed Act 1976. He said that farmers should inform agriculture department regarding standard seeds of wheat. He added that standard seeds of wheat would be provided to farmers on official rate.
