PESHAWAR, Dec 31: The joint opposition in the NWFP assembly on Monday staged a token walkout against what they termed “frequent interruptions” by an MMA member from Nowshera during the speeches on price-hike and unemployment.
The MMA MPA, Maulana Mujahid, stood on several occasions when the ANP parliamentary leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour was on the floor to deliver a speech on price-hike and unemployment.
Basher Ahmed Bilour, time and again, asked the chair to tell the MPA to behave but he ignored the chair ruling and continued with his catchy remarks against the ANP when they were at the helm of affairs during the previous regimes.
Maulana Mujahid, who has been elected for the first time, told the ANP parliamentary leader not to mention the name of their leaders in their speeches on the subject.
He said, there was no need of dictation by the ANP legislators who remained in government for a number of years and the province was faced with severe crisis. On this Bashir Bilour said this practice should not continue in the house.
The opposition resorted to a token walkout during the tea break.
Senior Minister Siraj Ul Haq and Education Minister Fazal Ali followed the opposition members and brought them back in the house. —APP
