SANGHAR, Dec 31: A group of people of the Bheel community staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday against an ASI of the Perumal police for torturing a man of their community.

Talking to newsmen, they said the ASI, Krishan, had arrested Mitho Bheel on the complaint of Revo Bheel in Dilshad Mori on Monday.

They said the ASI tied Mitho’s hands by a chain with a police mobile and made him to run with the mobile barefooted. Revo and several other police officials were sitting in the police mobile, they added.

They said Mitho was then taken to the police station where he was undressed and beaten up with a leather belt.

Mitho was released on the intervention of a local MPA, Pir Bux Junejo, and other influential people of the area.
