Musharraf gets Bahrain Amir’s letter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22: Presi-dent Gen Pervez Musharraf has emphasized Pakistan’s willingness to cooperate fully with all international efforts towards finding a political settlement in Afghanistan for the sake of a durable peace in the region.

The president observed this on Thursday when Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salman Bin Khalid Al-Khalifa, Minister of Electricity and Water of the state of Bahrain, called on him as a special envoy of the Amir of Bahrain, Shaikh Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

The minister also delivered a personal letter from the Amir of Bahrain.

President Musharraf apprised the visiting dignitary of latest developments in the region and in Afghanistan.

He asked the Bahraini minister to convey his greetings and gratitude to the Amir for the fraternal gesture of sending his special envoy and for his expressions of Bahrain’s firm support for Pakistan at this critical juncture.

In his letter, the Amir has conveyed his warm regards and good wishes to President Musharraf and appreciation for Pakistan’s continuing and important role in preserving peace, security and stability in the region.

The letter also expressed the Amir’s desire to continue cooperation and close consultations between the two countries on issues of mutual interest.

The special envoy observed that Bahrain greatly valued and took pride in its friendship with Pakistan, which it considered a pillar of strength for the Ummah and the Arabs.

The visiting minister also expressed his interest in promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of electricity and water. He offered to host Pakistani delegations to explore all possible avenues of cooperation.—APP
