RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved a Rs225 million project for the re-modelling of Kutcheri Chowk and widening of Airport Road, sources said here on Monday.

Under the Airport Road project, a single lane would be added to both sides of the road making them three lane from the airport to Kutcheri Chowk.

A senior official said this road would be brought up to the standard of the road linking the airport with Islamabad Highway.

Meanwhile, the road linking Airport Road to Army House will be widened and a railway bridge, falling on Airport Road, rebuilt under the project.

This project would now be presented in the Central Development Working Party (CDWP).

Meanwhile, the source said the PDWP would take up the project proposed by the district government for improving sewerage and water supply system in the city on January 4, 2003 with the Rs250 million funds promised by President Gen Pervez Musharraf during referendum campaign.

District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani said the project would help in reducing the problem of choking of sewers and shortage of water supply to a great extent.

Under the project, new sewerage lines would be laid in the localities previously not having the facility, outdated sewerage lines replaced and new water supply lines laid.
