PESHAWAR, Oct 2: Workers of various mainstream political and religious parties announced joining Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf here on Tuesday.

They made the announcement during a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, where PTI provincial leaders Pervez Khan Khattak and Hashim Babar were also present.

Those who joined the PTI included Iftikhar Khan from PPP along with family members and friends, former councillor Qadeer Khan, Haji Karim Shah, Asfandyar Khan from PML-N, former councillor Ajmer Shah, Mian Jamal Shah, Baharmand Khan from PPP-S, Jamaat-i-Islami’s Engr Mohammad Yousaf Khan, Bilal Khan, Mohammad Ibrahim, Suleman Khan and former councillor Noor Zaman, and from JUI Tahir Khan and Malik Haji Mohammad Amin Khattak.

Representing the people, Iftikhar Khan told media persons that they had said goodbye to their parties as the parties had no plans for solution to the problems being faced by the poor people.

He said that PPP government had failed to address the issues being faced by the masses. “We need a real sincere leadership to steer the country out of the prevailing uncertain and messy situation,” he stressed. “PTI will soon overcome the problems if came into power.”

PTI provincial leader Pervez Khan Khattak said people, especially activities and workers, had been frustrated by the poor performance of the government and their respective parties.

He also criticised the government for growing turbulence in Fata, saying a large number of innocent tribal people had been killed in military operations, whereas the drone attacks were further deteriorating situation in the tribal region. —Bureau Report
