Media: Lehri deserved more

LEGENDARY comedian of the Pakistan film industry Safeerullah Siddiqui, popularly known as Lehri, passed away due to a prolonged illness at the age of 83.

The coverage done by the media was not according to his status. His death was reported as an ordinary news item.

On the other hand, if anyone from the showbusiness industry dies on the other side of the border (India), our media would leave no stones unturned to pay rich tribute and run live coverage of their funeral.

The most recent example is of Rajesh Khanna who was given full coverage. Isn’t this hypocrisy?

they could have at least shown some of his old classic movies so the younger generation could know what a great artist he was - and for us older people it would have brought back a lot of nostalgic feelings back from the 60's early 70's - RIP Safeerullah sahib, may God Bless You.

the author is right in saying that legendary comedian Lehri did not get much publicity as he deserved, very sad,the person who has given so much to pakistan - at least should have shown his film for the people to revive their memory. what will our living artists expect and thinking?

atleast your post make few dorps to news, but that's they way it is... good or bad pakistani don't remember anyone it's now become a nature of this country. MEDIA NOW SELLS THE NEWS NOT GIVE THE NEWS, every news electronice media now become twitter, you can notice them be breaking news in every few seconds. Anyhow my good pray's to Legendry Lehri...

Although they were two different type of people. However Lehri was very talented and clean comedian. In my opinion the best Pakistan had. I agree he deserved better coverage than he got. His Urdu was real and jokes were good for any family or individual. I grew up in the same area of Jehangir Road Govt. quarters as a child. To me he was the best. RIP Mr. Safeerullah.
