Faisal intends no action against NAB

Published December 30, 2002

LAHORE, Dec 29: Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said here on Sunday that if he were to file a case, he would file it against the bank which had implicated him in a NAB reference.

The minister was talking to reporters at a book-launching ceremony in a local hotel here on Sunday. He made the statement while answering the question as to whether he was really going to file a case against the NAB as had been attributed to him by a section of the press on Sunday.

He said the NAB was not under the interior ministry and it had merely arrested him. The case was filed by the bank, against which “I reserve the right to initiate a case of my own”, he said.

He replied in the affirmative when asked whether more PPP legislators were joining his PPP-Patriots. He did not disclose the names of the new incumbents, asking reporters to wait for a while to know who they actually were.
