KARACHI: Unknown gunmen shot dead Malik Ata, a former MPA of the Sindh Assembly, in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

Ata was killed in the city's Mahmoodabad No. 3 area, which comes within the remits of the Baloch Colony police station.

Ata, who died on the spot, had been elected for a seat for religious minorities in the provincial assembly and leaves behind five daughters and three sons.

Police has initiated an investigation into the former MPA's killing.
