BUDAPEST, Sept 21: Denes Kemeny, who led Hungary’s men’s waterpolo team to three successive Olympic golds, announced his resignation as coach on Friday after his team finished a disappointing fifth at the London Olympics.
In 15 years on the job, the 58-year-old Kemeny notably led his team to Olympic glory in Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008.
They also won the world title in 2003, finished second on three other occasions, and claimed two European titles after Kemeny took over in 1997.—AFP
