KARACHI, Sept 18: Cotton prices ended unchanged on Tuesday for the second consecutive session amid increased activity, especially in Sindh, as it seems that rains had stopped for the time being and millers started buying again, brokers said.
The Karachi Cotton Association kept its spot rate unchanged at Rs5,600 per maund, and Rs5,600 bales of cotton were exchanged in Sindh at Rs5,500 to Rs5,600 and 2,000 bales in Punjab at Rs5,550 to Rs5,650.
Cotton futures in New York ended lower snapping a two-session run-up, but the drop was mild compared to sharp sell-offs in oil and other major commodities.
The following transactions were reported on the ready market on Tuesday: SINDH TYPE: 1,000 bales, Shadadpur at Rs5,500 to Rs5,600, 2,000 bales, Sanghar at Rs5,475 to rs5,525, 1,000 bales, Tandoadam at Rs5,500 to Rs5,600, 400 bales, Hyderabad at Rs5,525, 1,600 bales at Mirpurkhas at Rs5,450 to 5,550 and 600 bales, Shahpurchakar at Rs5,525.
PUNJAB VARIETY: 600 bales, Bahawalpur at Rs5,550 to Rs5,600, 200 bales, Burewala at Rs5,500, 200 bales, Gojra at Rs5,650, 200 bales, Vehari at Rs5,650, 200 bales, Khanowal at Rs5,650 and 400 bales, Jahanian at Rs5,650.
