PESHAWAR, Sept 17: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar has appreciated the efforts of tribal people against militancy and urged political administration to take effective measures for overcoming the incidents of kidnapping in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

Presiding over the 13th Political Agents Conference at Governor’s House here on Monday, he directed the political officers to take effective measure to control the kidnapping incidents.“This must be given serious consideration so as the people feel some kind of improvement,” the governor said. He directed that grievances of tribal people of Bara should be addressed properly. He added that repatriation process of internally displaced persons should be accelerated.

The conference reviewed law and order situation, anti-polio campaign and implementation of political reforms in Fata. Mr Kausar said that potential investors should be provided every facility including security in Fata. “Law and order in Fata is the core issue and the political officers should play their proactive role to ensure more improvement,” he said.

The governor directed that all the relevant authorities and agencies should coordinate their efforts to move forward collectively. He said that law and order situation in tribal areas was improving so the political administration should focus on development initiatives and reforms in Fata.

The political agents presented reports on law and order situation in their respective agencies and highlighted the steps taken to overcome problems in the areas. The conference was informed that Fata reforms particularly those relating to Frontier Crimes Regulation were being implemented. Fata additional chief secretary presented an overview of the implementation of decisions taken during the previous conference.

Tesco chief executive briefed the conference about the technical causes of power outages in Fata and suggested certain measures to ensure smooth supply of electricity to consumers in tribal areas. —Bureau Report
