BAJAUR, Dec 28: Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid, MNA from Bajaur Agency, has given a deadline to the political administration to remove dish antennas from the residences and business centres and close all video centres within a week, failing which the tribesmen and the students of Madaris would raise a Lashkar to stamp out elements spreading obscenity in the society.

This he declared at a meeting of religious leaders held at the Bajaur Levies’ mosque in Khaar here on Saturday. The meeting was attended by a large number of Ulema, seminaries’ students and workers and leaders of the MMA.

Mr Rashid observed that the Ulema and religious scholars, who were voted by the people to work for the cause of Islam, were duty-bound to purge the society from such elements which spread obscenity, vulgarity and un-Islamic culture. He said that if the political administration failed to take action against the elements, the religious-minded tribesmen would raise a Lashkar to forcefully close down the video centres functioning in the bazaars and business centres and remove dish antennas from the residences.

Mr Rashid, who is also the general secretary of MMA in the agency, warned that if any law and order situation was created during the campaign against un-Islamic elements, its responsibility would rest with the administration.

A number of other Ulema, who also spoke to the gathering, said that the religious parties’ alliance should work for the implementation of Islamic system in the country and use force wherever necessary to eliminate the handful of elements spreading obscenity and vulgarity in the society.
