PESHAWAR, Sept 11: The elders of Turi tribe from Kurram Agency have urged residents of the agency to unite and support efforts of government for establishing peace and foiling nefarious designs of terrorists.

Speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday, chairman of standing committee on states and frontier regions of National Assembly MNA Sajid Hussain Turi said that there were no sectarian riots in Kurram Agency but terrorists were involved in violence as they wanted to sabotage peace initiatives of the government.

He said that a peace agreement had already been signed between both Shiite and Sunni sects after which situation became stable to great extent in the tribal region.

Flanked by elders of the area, Mr Turi, who is also president of Tanzeemul Momineen Kurram Agency, condemned the killing of 14 people in a car bomb attack in Parachinar. He said that both Turi and Bangash tribes expressed resentment over the act of terrorism.

The MNA alleged that Fazl Saeed Haqqani, associated with Tehrik-i-Taliban, was involved in different terrorist activities in the area. He alleged that Fazl Saeed Haqqani was responsible for killing of innocent people and bloodshed in the tribal region.
