KARACHI, Sept 5: As city violence refused to die down, two policemen were shot dead in North Karachi on Wednesday morning, police said.

They said the shooting took place at a roadside restaurant named Achanak Hotel within the remit of the Khwaja Ajmair Nagri police station, where assistant sub-inspector Ghafoor Abbasi and constable Mohammad Hussain were breakfasting. The firing was carried out by two suspects riding a motorcycle.

Both the ASI and the constable suffered fatal gunshot wounds and died before they could be taken to hospital. Later, their bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Following the incident police were deployed in the area.

The slain ASI Abbasi and constable Hussain were posted at the Manghopir police station.

The SHO of the Ajmair Nagri police station, Chaudhry Afzal, said the incident took place at 10am when the two policemen were having breakfast at the restaurant.

The motive for the killing could not be ascertained.

Man, son killed A man and his son were gunned down in Baldia Town over a reported marriage proposal dispute on Wednesday morning, police said.

They said the incident took place in Ittehad Town, within the remit of the Mochko police station, where unknown persons shot dead Sarfaraz and Gul Nawaz and wounded Mir Nawaz. The police said Mir Nawaz was also the son of Sarfaraz. The incident took place at Khyber Chowk in Itthad Town.

The bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities and the wounded man was admitted for treatment. A dispute had developed between the victim’s family and a Mehsud family after Gul Nawaz proposed to a girl of the Mehsuds.

The police suspected that the Mehsuds were behind the killings as the male members of the family were not at their home. They said Siraj, a son of Sarfaraz, nominated Amin, Maqbool, Abdus Salam, Ghayur and five unknown persons in an FIR registered at the Mochko police station.

Middle-aged man

A 45-year-old man, Hussain Ahmad, son of Abdul Shakoor, was shot dead near his home in Korangi within the remit of the Zaman Town police station on Wednesday.

Police said unidentified suspects targeted him in front of his home in Sector 48/F, Korangi 2 ½.

Police said the victim suffered a fatal bullet wound to the face and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family. Police suspected that the victim was killed over enmity.

Police said family members of the victims, belonging to the Bangali-speaking community, would register a complaint after the victim’s burial.

Young man

Kashif, 25, son of Abdullah, was targeted near his home in Mauripur on Hawkesbay road on Wednesday.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Police said he was hit by four 9mm bullets in his upper torso in a drive-by shooting.

They said the victim was killed apparently on some personal grounds as he did not have any political of religious affiliation.

No case was registered till late in the night.

Three bodies found

The unidentified body of a young man was found in Lyari on Wednesday morning.

Police said the trussed-up body was found stuffed in a gunny bag and the victim was blind folded.

The body was found at the Khadaa Market on Shah Waliullah Road within the remit of the Baghdadi police station. The police said the body bore torture marks and the victim had been shot to the head.

He was kidnapped and killed somewhere else and his body was dumped at the scene by unknown suspects. He was in his mid-20s.

Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. Later the body was taken to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

The body of an unidentified young man was found in DHA Phase VII Extension within the remit of the Korangi Industrial Area police station.

Police said the body was found near DHA University. The victim had apparently been strangled with a rope.

The police suspected that the body was brought from somewhere else and dumped at the scene.

It was shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities, and later to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

The body a young man was found on Nawab Siddiq Wahab Road in Lyari within the remit of the Napier police station.

SHO Imdad Khawaja said the victim, later identified as Shaikh Asim Husain, a resident of Korangi, was a garment worker.

He had love affair with a female co-worker at the factory, said the SHO, adding that the killing might be related to the relationship.
