SIALKOT, Sept 3: An intermediate student refused to accept a chief minister’s scheme laptop on Monday at a ceremony at the Government Postgraduate College for Women.

When called to collect her laptop which she had won under the chief minister’s scheme for brilliant students, Momina went up to the stage amid thundering applause but only to refuse the prize.

“How can I get the laptop by the government when the killers of my father and two other family members are still at large,” she said to the audience through the public address system.

Her voice choked when she said the killers were now threatening her family with consequences for pursuing the murder case. She asked chief guest MNA Khwaja Asif to count her move a protest at police failure.

“First arrest the killers of my father and then I will collect the laptop,” saying this she left the stage.

Mr Asif, visibly shocked at the outburst of the girl, said that justice would be provided to her. He directed police officials to ensure the early arrest of the killers.
