BAHAWALPUR, Dec 24: Pakistan Seraiki Party chief Taj Mohammad Langah has got himself a PPP ticket to the election for NA-187 (Bahawalpur-V). The seat was surrendered by Aitzaz Ahsan.

Mr Langah, accompanied by some PPP leaders, visited the office of Returning Officer Mohammad Afzal Javed on Tuesday to deposit his PPP ticket. Later, a press release issued by the party confirmed his candidature.

Some of Mr Langah’s associates claimed that he would be treated as an ARD candidate, although the PML-N — an ARD component — had also fielded its own candidate for the seat, Khalid Mohammad Jajja.

Sources said the MMA had nominated JUI’s Maulana Shehbaz Bajwa, but he had not yet been issued the ticket. They said that after the nomination of Mr Bajwa, the JI leadership had directed its candidate, Dr Mohammad Ashraf, to withdraw his nomination papers.
