SARGODHA, Dec 24: District Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon has expressed his concern over the sale of state land worth millions of rupees at throwaway prices by the revenue department.

Speaking in an open kutchery in Bhalwal, he said Abdul Sattar, a doctor posted at Bhalwal, had managed purchase of one kanal piece of land having commercial value against a very nominal price of Rs260,000 with the connivance of revenue officials.

He said he had directed the concerned authority to take stern action against corrupt officials.

He told the audience that he would fulfil his promise of construction of stadium in Bhalwal besides the construction of Salim interchange and the establishment of an export processing zone in Bhalwal tehsil.

He further added that teachers’ vacancies would be filled very shortly.

Meanwhile, District Co-ordination Officer Malik Hassan Iqbal said that the Patwari and Qanungo involved in the sale of the land to the doctor had been suspended whereas a complaint against the tehsildar had been sent to the Board of Revenue.

When this correspondent contacted Dr Abdul Sattar, the allottee, he said that it was a propaganda to sabotage his social welfare programme for setting up a free dispensary.
