Doctor receives threats

RAWALPINDI, Aug 27: A local doctor has been receiving life threats on his phone since Friday from a militant group who are demanding Rs100 million from him, police said.

The caller identified himself as one of the members of 'Kaleemullah Mehsood' group and gave his name as Latif Khan. Doctor Hamid Hassan is the son of retired general, doctor Mehmood-ul-Hassan.

After getting the threat call, Dr Hamid Hassan,who runs a private clinic at Peshawar Road, sought the help of local police and lodged an FIR against the culprit.

He said in his complaint that the caller said he would be killed if the money was not arranged within 72 hours.

The police have registered an FIR and started investigations.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the telephone call was made from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.

However, the caller didn't give the name of the place where the money was to be delivered. — Staff Reporter

Sewerage system

ISLAMABAD, Aug 27: The residents of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have demanded proper sewerage system as sewage from overflowing gutters is destroying the streets and roads.

Though the government had rebuilt broken roads during the last six years but filthy water has once again broken them.

Locals have demanded of the authorities concerned to reconstruct the streets on priority basis and improve the sanitation system.—APP
