VEHARI, Dec 23: Mailsi police failed on Monday to arrest the alleged rapist of a married woman who also shaved her head and eyebrows.

Police raided many places to arrest accused Siddiq Mitro. They took some of his relatives into custody and the owner of the inn, Khadim Husain, where the incident took place.

Victim Fiaz Mai was sent to jail after her medical examination under Hudood laws. Doctor confirmed that she was also drugged.

When contacted, DSP Habib Ghuman showed his ignorance about the rape case.

Fiaz, 30, of Mauza Khanpur, a mother of two, was kidnapped on Sunday by accused Mitro when she was going to her sister’s house. He drugged and raped her. He physically tortured her too and shaved her head and eyebrows.

When the matter was to brought to the knowledge of Mailsi police, they not only registered a case against the accused but also against the victim on the complaint of her husband Abdul Majeed.

Majeed alleged that Fiaz had developed relations with his friend Siddiq Mitro and eloped with him on Sunday.

Fiaz’s father Noor Muhammad, however, said his daughter was innocent. He alleged that police had registered the case in connivance with her in-laws.
