KARACHI: West Indies beat Pakistan by 16 runs in a Super League playoff of the ICC Under-19 World Cup on Wednesday in Townsville, Australia.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first and started off with a brilliant opening spell with Mir Hamza dismissing Sunil Ambris (1), John Campbell (13) and Anothiny Alleyane (1).

West Indies were 182 all out in 49 overs as Usman Qadir also took 2-22 in 10 overs. It should have been an easy target to meet for Pakistan but West Indies took a few early wickets which derailed Pakistan.

Captain Babar Azam ad Umar Waheed scored 38 and 31 respectively for a partnership of 51 runs and Mohammad Nawaz and Qadir took Pakistan to 133-5. Kyle Myers took the winning wicket for West Indies as Pakistan only managed to make 166 runs in 48.3 overs.

Pakistan will now play Bangladesh for seventh place on Friday. In the other's match, Sri Lanka beat Ireland by 109 runs and will play Afghanisan on Friday.

This is the worst Pakistan U-19 I have ever seen. PAK senior or junior team needs a physiologist to calm their nerve against India to win.

Another Pathetic batting displayed by Sami Aslam. Why people to much obsess about him. He has such a poor technique and temperamant to play International match. For those who said Pak was better team than India I want to ask question with which countries PAK won in group matches and became the top. Pakistan seriously need batting coach for both senior and junior team cause they loose so many matchesbecause of their ill-tempered and skill-less batsmen.

Bring him on at a venue with slow pitch and you will watch him playing like Saeed Anwer. A very normal problem with all Pakistani batsmen except the disgraced ex-batsman Salman Butt who played his best innings in Australia. PCB is sleeping otherwise they need a lot of A-team tours to Australia, South Africa and England but firstly they are not having any and if they do it is always Zimbabwe, Bangladesh or Sirilanka. We need at least 3-4 A-team tours every year. The matter is more important than any other issue.

No it's not about chasing, it's about not being able to cope with a bouncy wicket. Only two matches played on this bouncy wicket and both lost due to poor batting display. Three matches played on a slow pitch and all three won.

Very disgusting, once again poor selection. Why two left arm spinners were selected to play quarter final when there were other options available. It seems that Selection Committee along with Pakistan Cricket Board are bent upon ruining cricket in Pakistan like PHF did to hockey.

whatever be the format of game pakistani bowling is very enjoyable .rest ie fielding batting is c grade.hockey coach consoled by saying that pak has done better than india inolympics.now console by saying i"india also lost against west indies.

Please do not single out a player here. It is a team loss! and somewhat responsibility goes to coaches. They should have won the game against India. Not sure why they batted first under the cloudy conditions of Australia?
