LAHORE, Aug 19: Robbers injured a citizen and plundered cash and valuables worth Rs3.1 million in six major hits in the city on Sunday.

Two robbers approached Sohail and his family in Batapur police limits and looted cash, gold ornaments and cell phones worth Rs400,000. They also wounded Sohail with butts of guns for offering resistance.

Two robbers waylaid Nasir and his family in Hunjarwal police limits and deprived them of cash and valuables worth Rs400,000 at gunpoint.

Three robbers barged into the house of Arsalan Ahmad in Sattokatla police limits, held all family members at gunpoint and took away cash and valuables worth Rs800,000.

Four robbers barged in the house of Shafique Nawaz in Gujjarpura police limits, looted cash and valuables worth Rs700,000 and fled.

Robbers entered the house of Ilyas Raza in Baghbanpura police limits and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.

Two robbers burst into the house of Ali in Misri Shah police limits, looted cash and valuables worth Rs300,000 and fled away.

MURDERED: A teenager was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in a house in T-5 locality of Sandah on Sunday.

The motive for the killing was not immediately known.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving an emergency call and found the victim, identified as Shahzad Masih, dead with multiple bruises and injuries.

Police suspected the youth was brutally clubbed by unidentified intruders.

The body was sent for autopsy and investigation had been launched.

BODY FOUND: The body of a tortured man was found in the city canal in Racecourse area on Sunday.

Police said the deceased, apparently in his 40S, could not be identified. He was apparently tortured before being murdered. The body was shifted for autopsy.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a potato chips factory near Malipura, Bund Road, on Sunday, burning down valuables worth thousands.

Rescue 1122 brought the blaze under control. The fire’s origin could not be ascertained.

SMUGGLER HELD: An alleged smuggler was arrested with injuries while his three accomplices managed to escape after crossfire with Rangers near Govindi village along Wagah Border on Sunday.

Hadyara police said four smugglers were trying to cross over to Indian side from Pakistan along with items when Rangers personnel challenged them and opened fire.

In the ensuing crossfire, one of the suspects was injured and fell onto the ground while the others managed to flee.

The Rangers captured the suspect and shifted him to Services Hospital. He was later identified as Heera Masih.
