SUKKUR, Aug 17: The chief of Hindu Panchayat has accused its own elected representatives of preferring personal issues over collective cause.
The president Jacobabad Hindu Punchayat Babu Mahesh Kumar Lakhani said that they met Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and MNA Faryal Talpur recently and conveyed to them details of the problems confronting their community. However, elected representatives of minorities kept their heads down while a free discussion was being held on the issue, he said.
It was the negligence of elected representatives of minorities that the Hindus were facing such problems, he observed while speaking at a news conference at the press club in Jacobabad on Friday.
Similar conditions were prevalent in Balochistan from where inmates of some 250 houses situated in Sui had shifted to safer abodes in Sindh, Lakhani stated.
Lakhani alleged the former chief of Panchayat Lal Chand Seetlani of creating hurdles rather than coming forward to resolve the issues of his community.
He declined taking a permit for liquor shop from the government. Mr Lakhani announced of holding elections of office-bearers of the Panchayat after Eidul Fitr.
