KARACHI: APMA holds demo

Published December 23, 2002

KARACHI, Dec 22: The All Pakistan Minority Alliance (APMA), Sindh, staged on Sunday a protest demonstration against the changing of loyalties by one of its MNAs, Mushtaq Khokhar, in favour of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q).

The demonstration was held outside Karachi Press Club. Protesters carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans “Return our Lota.” Election Commission should unseat the lota (turncoat) MNA, and on his place Dr Ramesh Kumar be declared the MNA,” etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Michael Jawaid, a former MPA and member of the central executive committee of the APMA, criticized the government for allegedly forcing Mushtaq to join the PML (Q), saying governments formed through arbitrary and pressure tactics always failed to accomplish the desired results. — PPI
