KARACHI, Aug 16: Spinners Asif Afridi and Shiraz Ali took seven wickets between them to inspire Tapal CC into the final of the 27th Karachi Gymkhana PTV Ramazan Cricket Festival with a stunning 32-run victory over Dollar East at the KG Ground here on Thursday.

Slow left-armer Asif grabbed four wickets for mere 12 runs in 3.4 overs, while off-spinner Shiraz picked up three for 14 to send the fancied Dollar East side crashing to 97 all out in the penultimate over of the second semi-final.

All-rounder Owais Pasta (26), Shahzad Malik (21) and former international Junaid Zia (20) were the only Dollar East batsmen to enter double figures after Tapal CC had themselves struggled to muster 129-9.

Having won the toss, Tapal CC owed their fighting total to a third-wicket partnership of 70 between veteran Mohammad Javed (45 off 37 balls, two fours and one six) and Daniyal Ahsan (29 off 22, four boundaries).

Upcoming off-spinner Taha Mamsa bowled brilliantly to claim five wickets for 22 runs his four overs. Junaid took two for 25 with his medium-pacers. Asif Afridi was declared the Man-of-the-Match.

Tapal will take on Advance Telecom in the final to be played on Friday.

Summarised scores: TAPAL CC 129-9 in 20 overs (Mohammad Javed 45, Daniyal Ahsan 29; Taha Mamsa 5-22, Junaid Zia 2-25); DOLLAR EAST 97 in 18.4 overs (Owais Pasta 26, Shahzad Malik 21, Junaid Zia 20; Asif Afridi 4-12, Shiraz Ali 3-14).
