KARACHI, Dec 22: Various measures are under consideration for improving the functioning of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, to bring transparency in its functions, Board Chairman Syed Iftikhar Hussain Zaidi said.

Talking to APP, he said that besides taking into consideration the internal and external deficiencies, he would make efforts to check the factors that might lead to corruption.

He said after taking over he held meetings with his officers as well as officials of various departments and issued instructions to improve their working and efficiency.

Mr Zaidi said he made it clear to the officials that there was always room for improvement provided there was an element of sincerity. He made it clear to the officials that there would be no compromise on principles and those working with sincerity and devotion would be rewarded while those failing to do so would be held accountable.

The Board chairman said that on the request of students, he had extended the last date for submission of examination forms up to Monday. However, he added, this date would not be further extended.

He said that in order to facilitate the visitors and student, an inquiry reception was being set up at the entrance of the BIEK and a proposal in this regard had been made for approval.

Mr Zaidi said that examination system would also be improved for which cooperation of the teaching community would be sought, so as to make the system more efficient.
