LAHORE: Governor Punjab Latif Khosa on Tuesday said that if the Supreme Court sends home another prime minister, it would inflict damage on democracy, DawnNews reported.
While addressing an Independence Day function for special children in Lahore, Khosa said that the government employees should remain faithful to the state instead of joining Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in “harming public property.”
The governor said that provocative statements had been issued against his government for the last four and a half years, yet the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) never responded to the provocations.
Furthermore, he said that if state institutions continued to be weakened, it would be detrimental to democracy. He said that despite having reservations, his party still accepted the courts’ verdicts.
The Punjab governor also announced that all special students studying in public sector universities would be exempt from paying the fees and be allotted a two percent quota in all government departments, as well as a 10-year relaxation in the age limit rule.
The function culminated with the singing of patriotic songs, as well as the governor participating with the special children in the tableau that they presented at the occasion.
