SUKKUR, Aug 13: A policeman and his cousin were shot dead in an armed attack on a police picket in Kashmore on Sunday evening.

Constable Mohammad Hassan Khoso, posted at Zero Pull picket of Kashmore, was having dinner with his cousin Amir Bux Khoso when armed men, reportedly from Mazari tribe, cordoned the area and opened indiscriminate fire.

As a result, Mohammad Hassan Khoso and Amir Bux died on the spot.

According to sources, the double murder was result of an old enmity between Khosos and Mazaris.

Two FIRs had been registered at Kashmore police station, one lodged by the police and another by Saleem Mohammad, the brother of Amir Bux, in which eight persons were nominated.

However, no arrest was reported till late on Monday evening.

No senior police official attended his funeral prayer or offered condolences, family sources told this correspondent.
