SUKKUR, Dec 21: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar here on Saturday announced a special package for Sindh, which included Rs50 million grant for development of each district of the province, reforms in health and education sectors and jobs in police department.

Speaking at a press conference at the residence of Sukkur District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the CM said that parchi system would be abolished at the government hospitals, the district hospitals would be fully equipped and they would be provided dialysis machines.

He said that from January, free treatment would be provided to TB patients at the government hospitals.

He said that 1,700 closed schools would be reopened, for which orders had been issued, adding that computer fees would be waived at the government schools and colleges and all of the colleges would be equipped with computers in due course.

The CM said that an anti-dacoity force would be established in the border districts of Sindh and only the residents of those areas would be employed in the force.

He also announced that the private anti-banditry forces would be dissolved and the sons and close relatives of martyred jawans of the Sindh police would be recruited on 100 posts of ASI.

On a question over water dispute between Sindh and Punjab, Mr Mahar said: “Punjab is our brothers but the rights of Sindh are supreme to us. There will be no compromise on the issue of water and dialogues is the best way to resolve this issue.”

He said that he had invited the chief minister of “elder brother” Punjab to come to Karachi for talks on mutual issues.

He said that water shortage was damaging crops of Sindh.

On another querry regarding Sindh’s royalty for oil, gas and other natural resources, he said that the problem would be solved soon.

Mr Mahar said that the biggest issue of Sindh was unemployment, for which his government would prepare a plan. He added that revolutionary changes would be brought in the lives of the people of the province.

He said that measures would be taken to ensure implementation of two per cent quota in the government jobs for the disabled people.

Earlier, the CM was received at Sukkur Airport by Mr Shah, Shikarpur District Nazim Arif Khan Mahar and a big crowd from Ghotki and Sukkur districts.

At the Clock Tower, he made a brief speech and promised to present a package for Sukkur city very soon.

The CM took serious notice of the kidnapping of Imdad Hussain Domki, cousin of former Sindh minister Ghalib Hussain Domki, from Kashmor on Thursday last. He directed the DIG, Sukkur police, to ensure safe recovery of the hostage

Later, he proceeded to his native town, Khangarh, and before reaching there, spoke at big gatherings in Pano Aqil, Mirpur Mathelo and Ghotki.

He announced to provide Sui gas at his native town, Khangarh.

He was accompanied by some MPAs of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q.
