LAHORE, Aug 9: Cantonment division police claim to have busted three gangs of robbers/thieves, arrested their 13 members and seized cash, jewellery, cell phones, motorcycles and illegal weapons from them.

Cantonment SP (Operations) Maroof Safdar Wahla told a news conference at his office on Thursday that the suspects were involved in robbery, burglary and motorcycle theft and they confessed during preliminary interrogations to committing 35 crimes.

He said 16 cases were found against them in different city police stations. Giving details, he said Harbanspura police arrested seven members of Shakeel alias Billa Gang and seized from them Rs25,000, 10 cell phones, two motorcycles, five pistols and 40 bullets.

Burki police arrested three members of Saddam alias Shamu Gang and seized from them Rs13,000, four cell phones, two motorcycles, three pistols and 18 bullets.

South Cantonment police captured three members of Faizan Dacoit Gang and recovered from them five tola gold ornaments, two artificial jewellery sets, five cell phones, a motorcycle and illegal weapons. He said members of this gang used to enter houses as veiled women.

The SP said the suspects had been handed over to relevant wings for investigation.
