KARACHI, Aug 6: A rickshaw driver died in a road accident on Sharea Faisal late on Sunday, police said. They said the accident occurred at the intersection near Mehran Hotel where a fast-moving dumper truck rammed into the rickshaw when both vehicles jumped the lights.

The rickshaw driver, Waris Shah, died on the spot and his tri-wheeler was mangled in the accident.

The dumper truck driver managed to escape.

Following the accident enraged people set fire to the dumper truck, which destroyed the front portion of the vehicle.

The police took the rickshaw driver’s body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
