LANDI KOTAL, Aug 5: A militant and a volunteer of a local peace committee were killed in a clash in Bara subdivision of Khyber Agency on Sunday.

Local sources said that members of militant organisation Lashkar-i-Islam clashed with volunteers of Akkakhel Peace Committee in Meelwat area.

The clash resulted in killing of one the peace volunteers and a militant, they added.

Meanwhile, a Bara-based political organisation, Khyber Union, distributed food and cash among 1,000 internally displaced families of Bara at Jalozai camp on Sunday.

The package included beverages, dates, pulses and a cash amount of Rs500 for every family. KU president Haris Khan Afridi said that his organisation would try to arrange an Eid package for the displaced families of Bara ahead of Eidul Fitr. KU volunteers also distributed ice among the IDPs at Jalozai camp.
