Clarification

LAHORE, Aug 3: A spokesman for the Punjab government has issued a clarification in reply to a statement by All Pakistan Newspapers Society, carried by Dawn on Friday, that the provincial administration had got registered an FIR against the chief of an advertising agency.

The spokesman said the FIR against Inam Akbar, Chief Executive of M/s Midas (Pvt) Ltd, was lodged by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), and not the Punjab government.

The Punjab government termed misleading an assertion made by APNS that the advertising agency and its chief executive were facing unilateral action, saying that cases had also been registered against officials of the DGPR.

“As the matter has been taken up by the Supreme Court, Midas should seek any sort of relief from the apex court.

“The government of Punjab cannot interfere in the transparent investigation proceedings,” the provincial government added.
