KINGSTON (Jamaica), Aug 3: Left-arm seamer Trent Boult claimed 2-25 on Friday as New Zealand restricted West Indies to 62-3 in reply to the visitors' 260 at lunch on day two of the second Test at Sabina Park. The hosts, overnight 11-0, struggled throughout the morning session, adding just 51 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Boult led the way by removing Kieran Powell and Assad Fudadin, while Neil Wagner (1-9) picked up the key scalp of veteran Chris Gayle.

Marlon Samuels provided the main resistance for the West Indies, striking five boundaries in an unbeaten 30 off 63 balls. Veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul was 8 not out at the break.

On Thursday, Kemar Roach starred with the ball to finish with 4-70 and both Tino Best and Narsingh Deonarine took two wickets after Martin Guptill top-scored for New Zealand with 71 and Ross Taylor contributed 60.

An unbeaten 62 from Guptill earlier helped New Zealand to reach tea on 152 for three.

Guptill formed a fine partnership with skipper Taylor, punishing some wayward bowling from Roach.

The Black Caps' captain brought up his half-century off 91 balls, including eight fours and the pair reached another milestone with a 100-run partnership.—Agencies
