One gunned down in court premises

LARKANA, Nov 21: Three armed men on Wednesday killed one and injured another in the premises of sessions court, Larkana. The deceased identified as Sabiz Ali Umrani, a resident of Ratodero, who was here to attend the court, was fired upon and killed. A stray bullet hit and injured a passerby Ghulam Muhammed Buriro of Warah town.

Police in the lead of ASP city Muhammed Alam Shunwari chased the fleeing killers and arrested Zamir Umrani along with a T.T pistol used in the crime. The murder was the outcome of an old enmity, police said.

ACID ATTACK: The relatives of Ms Farzana Soomro, a married lady, were reluctant to register FIR against Niaz Soomro who had allegedly injured her by sprinkling acid on her back in village Bhando Qubo on the outskirts of Ratodero on Tuesday.

The sources told this correspondent on Wednesday that the accused was influential and had been at daggers drawn with the victim’s family over certain matrimonial matter. She had snubbed the accused from using abusive language to which he threw acid injuring the right side of her back. Her husband Abdul Jabbar immediately reported the police about the incident and it gave him a letter for hospital to undertake treatment.

The DSP Ratodero Ali Nawaz Lashari on Wednesday night said that the police had registered the report but the victim’s family was avoiding lodging FIR against any one.

Hafiz Abdul Qadir Siyal, a respected figure of the area, hammered out a settlement privately but the DSP said the victim party was unwilling to accept the agreement.

The victims were said to be poor. The injured lady after receiving first aid at Taluka headquarters hospital, Ratodero, was shifted to CMCH where she was recovering.

EXAM FORMS: The controller of the BISE, has announced that the examination forms for Secondary School Certificate Part-I & II (science and general groups) would be accepted in schools till Dec 10 along with the demand draft.
