SIALKOT, Dec 19: The Nadra has decided to expand its network of centres for swift issuance of computerised National Identity Cards (NICs) at tehsil headquarters level.

The Nadra director-general for Lahore region, Brig Tariq Moin Nawaz, made this announcement while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a Nadra ‘Swift Centre’ at a factory here. The Nadra has established the centre with the help of local businessmen.

Brig Nawaz said Nadra had established 400 swift centres in Lahore region and would establish another 600 in the region’s six districts including Lahore, Narowal, Okara, Deepalpur, Kasur and Sheikhupura in early 2003.

He further said Nadra had purchased two air-conditioned coaches that would serve as mobile swift centres to provide computerised NICs to people at their doorsteps.

He said Nadra had issued computerised NICs to 4.3 million people in the Lahore region and was preparing the NICs of another 5.9 million.
