KARACHI: Pakistan's top skeet shooter Khurram Inam fired a total of 67 and was ranked at number 30 after the first day of the two-day skeet shooting event.

36 shooters are participating in the skeet event and the top six will qualify to fire an additional 25 round after the preliminaries.

Inam, who is competing in his third Olympic Games (after Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004), scored 21, 23 and 23 in the first three rounds respectively. He is set to participate in two more rounds on Tuesday.

Based on the results so far, Inam will be unable to match his personal best of 119. The shooter blamed windy conditions and lack of practice for his poor performance.

“All the shooters struggled but they overcame the resistance quickly as they are professionals and were well prepared," Inam was quoted as saying by a local newspaper.
