LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 21: Prices of essential commodities have been increased manifold during Ramazan, according to a survey.
A visit to various markets showed that potatoes were selling at Rs20 per kilogram against Rs6 to Rs8 per kg they were available before Ramazan. Tomato prices shot up to Rs30 to Rs35 per kg. Banana, that used to sell at Rs12 per dozen, is now being sold at Rs18 to Rs20 per dozen. Prices of other commodities have also been increased.
Besides, sub-standard edibles are also being sold. People have appealed to the authorities concerned to keep an eye on the prices and book the sub-standard commodities sellers and hoarders.
BURGLARY: A gang of thieves on Tuesday night broke into a medical store in Tajazai, some 16km from here, and took away 14 cartons of drugs worth Rs75,000.
