MANSEHRA, Nov 21: The district Zakat office, Mansehra, which restarted its operations after eight months of suspension, would distribute Rs19.6 million among mustahiqeen, sources told Dawn here on Wednesday.

The district Zakat office had suspended distribution of Zakat in December 2000. After resumption of its operations, the Zakat office, headed by Col (retd) Waseem Khan, distributed Rs3.88 million in September 2001, the sources added.

According to details, Rs8.96 million has been allocated to the district under a special rehabilitation scheme announced recently by President Gen Pervez Musharraf. This fund would be distributed among 896 mustahiqeen of the area.

The district Zakat office would also grant Rs100,000 each to three hospitals in Mansehra.
