HANGU, Nov 21: NWFP Director General Health, Habibur Rehman, paid surprise visits to hospitals, clinics and medical stores in Hangu district and Orakzai Agency on Wednesday.

The DG visited the tehsil headquarters and Zanana hospitals in Hangu city and checked all the records of the two hospitals. He expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the staff.

The health director general was accompanied by officials of the district administration.

Habibur Rehman inspected all wards of the Zanana hospital, including the operation theatre, where costly surgical equipment was left to rust. He took exception to the indifferent attitude of the hospital authorities and directed them to remove all the irregularities.

The DG inspected the wards and the new building of the tehsil headquarters hospital and expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of the hospital and equipment. He directed the district health officer and other doctors to further improve the performance of the hospital.

The DG also raided private clinics and medical stores in the district and its adjacent Orakzai Agency. A medical store and a private clinic were sealed for lack of hygiene and other facilities.
