MANSEHRA, Nov 21: The district Nazim Mansehra, Azam Khan Swati, has stressed upon the government to contact the American Congress through Pakistan-American Congress Organization for the establishment of the broad-based multi-ethnic government in Afghanistan and other problems related to Pakistan in US after the Sept 11 air attack.
This he said in a press release issued by his office on Wednesday.
Mr Khan said that as many as 42 Congressmen had participated in a recently held meeting of the PACO in US in which he (Azam Khan) also got the membership of the said organization.
He said that the PACO through its members, most of them are Congressmen, can pressurise international community to extend a reasonable financial help for the rehabilitation of the Afghan DPs not only in the country but also in Afghanistan.
He said that this organization is already working for the betterment of the Pakistanis who are living there and most of the time it has backed Pakistan’s view point about the Kashmir issue.
Mr Khan while terming his meeting with President Pervaz Mushrraf most important and amicable said that “we the Nazims of NWFP, have thoroughly apprised the president about the problems and hardships relating to newly introduced local bodies system in its smooth running adding that the response of the president was encouraging”.
He said that the president wanted to make this system successful and this is why he has assured the Nazims of the NWFP that no confidence move against them would not be attainable till December 2002.
He said that the president has assured that the existing law about the no confidence vote will be amended to strengthened this system for the betterment of the deprived segments of the society
