ISLAMABAD, June 26: A salesman of a medical store was killed as a gun went off accidentally on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place at about Monday midnight when the accused, who brought a sub-machine gun (SMG) to the medical store two days ago, pulled it out but it went off all of a sudden. The victim – Syed Sohail Mushtaq and the accused had been working for the last seven year at the medical store located in Super Market.

Syed Sohail suffered two bullets. He fell on the ground as blood began to gush out of the wounds. On information, the Kohsar police reached there and shifted the victim to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Besides, the accused was also taken into custody and shifted to police station for further legal action. At the time of incident, a security guard and six other salesmen were present in the store, but they denied any confrontation or scuffle between them.

The police also watched the CCTV footage which revealed that the weapon went off when it was pulled out by the accused. The police took the CCTV footage from the store owner to examine it further.

The accused in his statement told the police that he pulled out the weapon to check it, but it suddenly went off.

The police said that after the incident, the accused did not make any effort to escape from the shop.
