KARACHI: Police on Tuesday registered an FIR in connection with Monday’s blast near the Chinese consulate in Clifton.

Police said the FIR (352/2012) was registered at the Boat Basin police station under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act.

A second FIR (353/2012) under Section ¾ of the Explosive Act was registered at the same police station. Both FIRs were registered on behalf of the state against unknown persons, the police said. Three persons, including Rangers personnel, were wounded when an explosives-rigged motorcycle blew up outside the consulate in Clifton Block 4.

Later in the night, police found another planted motorcycle with the same type of explosives from the crime scene.
