ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim took oath as the new Chief Election Commissioner on Monday, DawnNews reported.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took the oath from Ebrahim.

The oath-taking ceremony had earlier been scheduled for Friday, however, it was later postponed until Monday on Ebrahim’s request.

He has served as law minister, attorney general, a judge of the Supreme Court and governor of Sindh.
