KARACHI, July 21: Around 25-30 per cent of industries have gone out of production in the SITE industrial area due to low gas pressure.

Chairman, SITE Association of Industry Muhammad Irfan Moton in a press statement said that production in many industries stopped on Friday after gas pressure was dropped abruptly by the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited. Meanwhile, several captive power generating units also stopped operating because of non-sufficient supply of gas to the industrial area.

Citing a discriminatory attitude by SSGCL, he said that low gas pressure is being faced only by the industrialists of SITE area whereas the other industrial areas of Karachi were not facing this issue.

The present supply of low pressure gas has put industries under constraints to meet their targets and has left export oriented industries in a very awkward position.

He urged the managing director of SSGCL to take the necessary steps for improvement of gas pressure at the earliest.
